Hot Summer, Cool Pool

The end of this record breaking summer heat is approaching; here are some ideas to utilize your free time in good weather before the fall.

Although going back to school means less time for vacations, we thought of some great ways to spend time with your family and friends in your backyard! Get in the pool during the day while it's still warm or in the hot tub when it cools down in the evening.

The addition of a fire pit would be fun for roasting marshmallows, letting the kids cook their own hotdogs, or for teaching children how to safely tend a fire. If you are new to the area, hosting a block party would be a great idea to get involved with your neighbors. You could also invite your family and friends to have a cookout or a pool party.

Backyard camping is a great little getaway without getting away! It gives you the security of being home, but allows you to get out of the house for the night. This could be great practice if you are planning on a camping trip in the fall or just to show your children how it works.

A few other fun things you can do to celebrate the end of summer are watching the full moon on September 20, stargaze by the pool, read a book outside, or just relax in the nice weather.

The end of summer is a great time to plan upgrades to the design of your pool and entertainment areas. Keep in mind how much room you have and how much you are willing to cover.

Do you want to include a mini kitchen with a fridge; would you want it built-in?

Is your pool going to have chairs set up around it; if so how much concrete will you need to pour?

Do you want an entertainment center, and where would you put speakers?
